mistletoe: (My Booth)
Speaking as the Walrus I shall say the time has come. We are not going to talk of many things and certainly not shoes and ships and sealing wax. No it's Booth all the way and launching into Season 5, just before Season 7 finally gets going in 2 weeks time. Squeeeee.

You would think four years down the road, we would know plenty about Agent Booth, but he has been so reticent that that is not the case, and there are some things which have still to be disclosed. Perhaps Season 5 will be the place to find out all there is to know about our enigmatic hero.

I am back baby )

Quite a nice day today, but not very warm.
mistletoe: (Heeey)
This is probably a mistake as my laptop is running very slowly for some reason and so my connection is iffy. Anyway, we must push on with Booth's background by looking at The Beaver in the Otter which provides surprisingly rich pickings for late Season 4.

I don't want my frontal lobe to be a dried up raisin )

Two episodes left!
mistletoe: (I am awesome)
I want to finish off Seeley in Season 4 (with added alliteration) by rushing through the rest of the season just hitting on the new stuff while acknowledging the consistency of stuff we have already established.

Booth is a very empathetic man. )

Change in the weather today and a bit of rain. Plus, twilight at 6 o'clock. Now that's what I call Autumn.
mistletoe: (gulp)
Today we are looking at Agent Booth well out of his comfort zone. He gets by with the science geeks at the Jeffersonian because they tolerate each other. Besides, he can always threaten to shoot one of them. Booth's self confessed deficiencies in the enrichment side of Parker's education and his own perception of what Brennan and Hodgins are talking about most of the time mean that when he is surrounded by highly qualified professional scientists he feels a little out of his depth. How does he cope?
You’ve got to be kidding me. It’s like ClubMed Mensa around here. )

Th-th-th-that's all folks!
mistletoe: (My Booth)
Yes! I have moved swiftly on to the next three episodes of Season 4 to see what more we can find out about Booth. As hinted in the previous entry, the need to remind ourselves that Booth is smart is on the agenda over these focused on others stories. With that in mind, let's consider The Doctor in the Den, The Science in the Physicist and The Cinderella in the Cardboard

Ha, guess no one told this guy it’s not a petting zoo.  )

I am not impressed with the new improved(sic) posting box when it comes to long and complicated entries, but I shall endeavour to post my next installment of Booth for All Seasons, still in Season 4.

We have hit a bit of a trough with the next three episodes: The Princess and the Pear, The Bones That Foam and The Salt in the Wounds because they add very little new to our picture of the many facets of Booth and in many ways go over old territory. So I shall endeavour to find something which has been cast aside, or even forgotten in Season 4, namely, that Booth is a very intelligent guy. Too often in this season, he has been reduced to the muscle with the transport and the inappropriate comment at the scene of the crime. He has had his role narrowed even in the interrogation room thanks to the 'assistance' of Agent Dr Sweets and frequently the Jeffersonian crew not only find the hard evidence, but solve the crime too and Booth is left to flourish the handcuffs or pick up the tab.

You should stop using cartoons as a scientific reference point. )

So there we are. The focus was largely elsewhere in these three episodes with Agent Perotta and Sweets getting a fair amount of screen time while we also had to deal with the personal foibles of Mr Nigel-Murray and Mr Fisher along with the introduction of Mr Vaziri and the end of Angela's relationship with Roxie. Not much room for Booth's backstory in there and we don't fare much better in the next three episodes either! Short entries are good too.
mistletoe: (BB Fire)
Have you missed me? There has been such a lot going on with icon making and re-watch discussions that  my Season 4 re-watch has fallen behind somewhat. So, to remedy that today, we have two pivotal episodes in what turned out to be a serious illness for Agent Booth. Why nobody picked up the symptoms, what with concussion, stun gunning and two instances of hallucinations is just one of those crazy things that happens on television shows. Anyway, here we go with the next edition of A Booth for all seasons: Fire in the Ice and Hero in the Hold.

Fire in the Hold or hero on the ice, it's all Booth all the way. )
mistletoe: (Boris Hammer)
Here is a very brief update of A Booth for All Seasons. It is brief because there is a run of episodes where we have very little Booth action except he gets progressively dumber. Whether this is because of the brain tumour or writers decisions that Sweets needed a boost, there is not much to add in the way of background. Okay, you just have to give me a minute, okay, you can have your boobies all to yourself. )

mistletoe: (not booth-lite)
Big shift in the weather: not Icelandic volcano or Rapture related, just a low in the Atlantic. So wet and windy.

Let's get Booth to a place we haven't been yet: with his roots showing.
A very long chapter of The Character Study of Seeley Booth: Happy birthday )

Well that was very long, but it gets rather bitty after this so I gave it a good going over.

Still windy and stormy out

See, I mention that May is the month of renewals on Sunday and DB tweets on Monday that Season 7 is good to go. *preens*

So let's get on with Season 4 or I'll never catch up. Technically I have started Season 4, but when you check episode numbers, several of the early ones have a 3 as part of their identifier, namely, in numerical order:
The He in the She  3AKY15
The Man in the Outhouse   3AKY16
The Finger in the Nest  3AKY17
The Crank in the Shaft. 3AKY18
I assume, this was to make up for the writers' strike ravaged shortness of Season 3. It means I am not going to look at Booth's office until I reach Episode 4AKY01 which is The Perfect Pieces in the Purple Pond although there will be a backward step in The Crank in the Shaft to look at THE CHAIR. Just a small snippet today as I'm a bit distracted.

Booth character analysis: Eating a body. Should I shoot it? )

I was going to do more, but I haven't done the research yet, so it must wait.

It's another glorious day in the neighbourhood and [livejournal.com profile] amilyn 's timeline for Booth post reminded me that I hadn't got started on Season 4 in quite such as timely a fashion as I would have liked. I think I was prevaricating because the first episode was greeted with a certain amount of antagonism on this side of the Pond, because of the cliched view of the UK it presented. This had nothing to do with Booth, but I need to say it. The British aristocracy is not royalty. They are wealthy landowners who may trace their titles back to Norman times (11th century) but they are not relatives of the Queen. These are the exceptions:
Duke of Edinburgh - Prince Philip, married to the Queen. He is Greek. He does not own Edinburgh.
Duke of Kent - Prince Edward, Queen's first cousin, a grandson of George V
Duke of Gloucester - Prince Richard, Queen's cousin and grandson of George V
Duke of Cornwall - Prince Charles, Queen's eldest son
Duke of York - Prince Andrew, Queen's second son
Earl of Wessex - Prince Edward, Queen's youngest son.

Secondly, the police in London tend to be referred to as the Met., short for Metropolitan Police, rather than Scotland Yard. Also, homicide is not the name given to  police investigations of murder in this country

Right, after that is out of the way, everything else is just nitpicking.

Character analysis of Seeley Booth: God, the man’s got a head like a boulder. )

Oh, I'm going to miss the first day of our first game at home on Wednesday if I go to the Quayside. *ponders* Quayside I think. Good food, good wine, good friends. I can go to days 2 and 3 instead. he he

We've made considerable progress, but AOL still has a significant number of backed-up notifications. They're stored and will be delivered as soon as we can resolve the underlying issue.

No help to me there. I don't have many notifications, but having none is infinitely annoying.

Speaking of infinitely annoying we have arrived at a non-Bones Thursday AGAIN and the last two episodes of Season 3 seem to fit the mood.

Character analysis of Seeley Booth: Hot tub, plus cold beer equals warm beer. Hat? Equals solution. )

India are about to finish Australia's interest in defending the World Cup with any luck and I am about to watch thirtysomething when they do. The weather has been properly Springlike this week although it is supposed to cool down for the weekend. Typical.

Cold here. I'm watching the Cheltenham Festival this week which is National Hunt's horse racing highlight and very close to the hearts of the Irish who come over in droves. They had a really successful day yesterday winning 6 of the 7 races. I tipped two winners on Tuesday, but only the one yesterday when there were a  lot of big priced winners.

Let's get most of Season 3 finished. I'll leave the last two episodes until later because I want to look at a specific thing about Booth that got me quite annoyed when I did my rewatch.

LJ is being a complete arse and not allowing rich text posting on my entries. What a pain as I am in need of not having to code the whole entry. LJ Hook is my saviour.

Anyhoo. First here are my banners of victory!!!

Cool huh?

So with Boothiness in mind and my fingers crossed that this doesn't take 6 hours to do in html, let us look at the next two episodes of Season 3 Booth.

Aaaah what a morning! In a good way. Steve Bruce and Niall Quinn (my uber-hero) were on Goals on Sunday this morning and I know I am biased but what common sense they talked. It's not usual for the chairman of a football club to be an ex-player (I can't think of another one in this country) and a former player for the club to boot. Manager yes, but not chairman. He's not even from the area: he's Irish, but he has such a passion for Sunderland football club he more or less bought it; or at least put together a group of business men to do it for him. And when they ran out of money he went and found someone else. What a man!

Speaking of passion and what a man, I've got more to say about Booth (oh there's a surprise. Mid season 3 Booth in fact starting from an episode I really enjoy: Mummy in the Maze and then further thoughts from The Intern in the Incinerator.
Booth character analysis: Little game there, Bones - who shows up for the Iraqi Bambi? )

Heh! Manchester United are talking to no one after their defeat to Liverpool this afternoon. Dummies are on the floor all over Anfield.
