I have a cold. How very dare I. The sinus thing I have had since a week past Thursday decided to become sneezy and sniffy and eye hurty yesterday for realz so I have at least got rid of the headache. Yesterday was funny. We had arranged for mam and dad to come up here, unless it was raining, in which case I would go down to their place. It was raining so off I went. When I got there, the door was locked. I realised they had gone up to my house. After much fumbling with the house phone, mobile phones and voice mails we eventually got in contact and they came back to their house from my house which I hadn't tidied up like I normally do Anyway, we sat at their house for the rest of the day and watched the golf. I came home at teatime and went to bed. Didn't get up until 9.15 and I feel much better, just runny nosed.

Here is the meme that I saw first on [livejournal.com profile] tempertemper 's journal.

Small competition in today's post friends. Virtual cookies to the winners.

1. Which play features the quote in my subject line? Who wrote it? Who said it? Clue: I have played the role.

2. I feel like Mother Shipton. Virtual cookie to anyone who knows who she was. There I was yesterday remarking on the snow still being on the edges of the fields and what that means. This was half an hour ago:

You can sort of make out the remains of the December pile on the path on the last one if you look at the car tyre and the kerb. Well that was a surprise, yet not, because I went to the shops this morning and it was -3. Anyway, I'm watching the racing from Fontwell where it is bathed in sunshine.

3. Now then, here's a sort of a meme that's not. I made it up anyway. Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] tempertemper77 's pic-a-day and [livejournal.com profile] melissasjack 's request for some pictures of my owl collection, I took some snaps. Here are a few owls. Excuse the dust on the last two!

I do the occasional meme so I'll do this one as it's not too long.

1. Name: Sara. aka lumsy
2. Birthday: December 28, 1954 *gulp*
3. Place of residence: Northern North East England
4. What makes you happy: A plate of home made pasta with tomato and mascarpone sauce, a warm fire and a good football match on the telly
5. What are you listening to now/have listened to last: Last. FM Alan Parsons mix
6. An interesting fact about you: Hmmm I have a shirt belonging to David Boreanaz, well, worn by him on Angel
7. Are you in love/do you have a crush at the moment: No I'm past caring now
8. Favorite place to be: In the National Gallery in London, or sitting in the Piazza della Signorina in Florence
9. Favorite lyric: "Relax said the nightman, we are programmed to receive/You can check out any time you like but you can never leave," - The Eagles
10. Best time of the year: Crisp snow on a winter's day

Recommend:

1. A film: Places in the Heart *weeps*
2. A book: The Flight of the Heron D.K. Broster - an historical romance with a Jacobite rebellion background
3. A band, a song and an album: Supertramp, Even in the Quietest Moments, Greatest Hits

Plus:

1. One thing you like about me: You love kittehs and I like your old-school Bangel writing (Iknow that's two)
2. Two things you like about yourself: my sense of humour, my ability to do quizzes thanks to my vast fund of trivial information
3. Put this in your LJ so I can tell you what I think of you.

Weather forecast is for heavy snow and winds producing drifts overnight. The kids got a letter about bad weather arrangements today. Considering people have been driving around on tiptoe already this week thanks to black ice and ignorance about how to drive safely in hazardous conditions, I shall be walking to work if we do get the predicted 6-8 inches,

We had a similar forecast last year and as I remember we got two inches.

I'm always disappointed.

Here's something spotted in [personal profile] lostakasha's ramblings for today.
Go to your calendar and find the first entry for each month in 2007. Post the first line/sentence of it in your journal, and that's your "Year in Review."

Well that was a thrill. I seem to be obsessed with well nothing much really.
I haven't defected from lj after all. The goal Stokes scored was against Derby County, only in a different division. How small my world is. Next year I must go for more inventive first lines of the month!

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last week I saved a busload of nuns in Angola (326 points). In August on a flight to Vancouver, I stole the emergency flight information card (-40 points). Last Monday I ruled Duluth, Minnesota as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points). Last Sunday [profile] girlpire and I robbed a bank (-50 points). In April I invaded Iraq, broke it, and couldn't glue it back together before Mom got home (-1012 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-76 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!

Sincerely,
mistletoe54

Needless to say I can now account in a more plausible way for the cold I have: it's these extremes of temperature. Yoinked from [personal profile] yhlee  while I was looking for something else.

Mind, I have to confess 'supersede' nearly foxed me. Still not lost my touch then.

Made a start with classes. A curate's egg I would say and I don't want to dwell. I demand fun at home from now on!

18 games it took. I knew as soon as I saw the magpie that we were doomed. Sure enough, Colchester 3 Sunderland 1. What is more: the final home game of the season is on Sky next Friday. Gulp. *Looks round shifty eyed.* Please don't let it go wrong again. Let us pray that Wolves do Birmingham Sunday lunchtime or we won't be top any more. *Considers lighting candle.

Your Brain is Purple

Of all the brain types, yours is the most idealistic.
You tend to think wild, amazing thoughts. Your dreams and fantasies are intense.
Your thoughts are creative, inventive, and without boundaries.

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking of fictional people and places - or a very different life for yourself.

                                                                      What Color Is Your Brain?

Considering how I spend most of my time this result was inevitable. I am making some progress on Angel's curse though it is hard to get the thing centred. The canon is just so vague or contradictory that I am having to look through episodes for any reference to the damn thing that helps and there ain't much. I'm having most difficulty with the motives of the gipsies adding the curse in the first place. I mean what is the point of losing the thing that guarantees their revenge? Reverting to Angelus won't make him suffer: it will just make him worse. Anyway, this is still moot as I haven't come up with an answer yet. So I'll mull it over in my purple brain.

Meanwhile England are making a complete a**e of playing Israel in football and Kenya in cricket. These two aren't exactly world beaters in their respective sports. Neither apparently are we.
Clocks go forward tonight and I can't find my sleep mask. Sigh. I hate waking at 5.30 in the morning.
Rome Holiday -8 days. Squeeee!
