mistletoe: (Bored now)
Three things to say today. Major suckage on two counts. First I watched Bones when I got in from work and in some ways I'm glad I did. More on that later. Second, work was a major waste of time. Two words say it all: TEAM. BUILDING.

In other news, Kevin Keegan has resigned. Whatever my views on the Mags, it's a disgrace that such an honourable man has been treated with such contempt by the owner and his lackey Dennis Wise. Sky Sports News is full of vituperative fans demanding boycotts and reporting destruction of season tickets, one a £16,000 platinum pair. Scandalous, just scandalous.

Anyway, Bones.
ExpandYanks in the UK thoughts and spoilers. )
How autumnal it is already. Not nine o'clock and it's dark. This morning there was condensation on the car. I'll have to bring the Christmas cacti in tomorrow.

Doncaster Rovers 1 Leeds United 0

In other news:
  • The Australians have rallied to 76 for 6 which isn't as bad as it could have been.
  • England were out for a sorry 204 but Panesar scorched through the New Zealanders leaving England two days to score quite a lot. However they will have to do it tomorrow as the weather forecast for Tuesday is shocking.
  • Chelsea sacked Avram Grant after "a disappointing season". So finishing runners up in the League and Champions League are not good enough. Give him to us. We'll take that sort of disappointment any day.
  • Detroit Redwings pasted the PIttsburgh Penguins in the first Stanley Cup game. I predict a whitewash.

OK 3 hours ago I was tee-heeing at the snow in other parts of Britain. Then it started here and is in full blizzard mode as we type. Well it had just better go away. I'm watching Middlesbro v Man Utd playing about 30 miles from here. Nothing, not a flurry or a flake. I wonder if that will last? Incidentally Boro have just equalised. I may update later. That's the first goal they've conceded in ages. Of course Vidic isn't playing; that makes a difference.

Commentator has just mentioned the clouds. This is serious snow here. If it gets there it'll make the second half interesting.

A few random words from the hiatus.
poothery: muggy, sultry; spoken of the weather. Well that doesn't fit.
pulicosity: an abundance of fleas
gloppened: surprised. Yes that'll do.

Here, this is of interest, to me at any rate. See you wait all year for something and then two come along together. So not only is baby Jesus celebrating but I am too. I get totally obsessed about my birthday, probably because there's nothing else for me to celebrate for all the rest of the year. Also it is possible to miss out on celebrating altogether because of weather issues - another obsession of mine- which mean you're trapped in the house. Horror. So to keep me going I must keep checking back to this:

Get Your Own! | More Flash Toys

Meanwhile... it snowed!!! Pathetically it has all washed away in the current driving sleet, but still, it was quite dramatic to crest the hill at Witton Gilbert (exciting name for a village eh?) and see fields full of white while you were still in rain. Unpleasant slushy roads when I got to the top of my hill as well and all the cars had snow on them except mine. Heee!

In other news Chelsea 2 The Lads 0 Hmmph and a lad sent off. Looks bleak again. I don't know what they do to make it better either.

Pouring with rain, windy; the only thing we haven't had is the promised thunder and lightning although my headache says otherwise.

Another injury for the lads; Carlos Edwards had his leg broken in a heavy challenge on Saturday so is out after just coming back for another 6 weeks. It never rains but it pours. Hee hee. The fantasy team is another crocked group at the moment, 5 injuries or suspensions. Not good timing at all.

Won the quiz last night on a tie-breaker of the year the first jigsaw was sold. My trivia knowledge is ridiculous!

New icon, hope it shows up thanks to [profile] setje  over at Boreanazists.net.

Is Bones not on this week? Have they done a Prison Break and stopped for Christmas? Mummy in the Maze is on Sky this week anyway so I'll cope.

Anthony Stokes 93rd minute winner. We never do things simply.

In other news: Liam's Chocolate Fireguards are still top of their league and doing the same in the group stages. I am quite chuffed with my fantasy team then, in spite of a horrendous injury list.

Roy will have them on the naughty step and running behind the bus all the way home

I have a cold - sore throat runny nose - caused by freezing classroom on Thursday and Friday.

Windy night here and a blustery day behind us. Disappointing for the lads today. 1-1 v the Mags but they could have won! So it's looking a little bleak. 15th in the league is not brilliant so we must look for new signings in January to boost the rest.

Bones started on Sky this week so Britain is only 6 weeks behind and will soon catch up if the Writers strike continues. Frankly I hope it does. I've read elsewhere one or two petty minded comments about 'we want our shows' but as someone who feels seriously underpaid for the crap I put up with on a daily basis, I sympathise completely with people who work in an industry where others make millions off their talent. I almost feel guilty watching my boxed sets knowing the writers will get nothing from my viewing.  Checkout here
There's a picture of David picketing on there and plenty of interesting info.

We did a 1945 street party with Year 7 on Friday, it being Remembrance Day on Sunday. I was dressed as a GI. It was sad really how little the children knew about WW2, but then why should they? They probably know more about the Romans than I do. But, many couldn't even access the language of the newspaper headlines we had. 'Premier Mobbed At Palace' was a foreign language to them: didn't know the word Premier; thought mobbed meant attacked and didn't know who lived at the Palace. Eh dear. What was even more sad was that when one of them identified Churchill's famous V for Victory sign as the peace symbol, the History teacher agreed with her. I am getting too old for this shit as Riggs said and I wasn't alive when the war was on!

Firstly. ... disappointingly the lads lost to Arsenal but after being down by 2 in the first 15 minutes they got it back to 2 apiece before that Van Persie lad scored in the 80th minute to rob us of 'a deserved point' as the BBC put it. Still, the Van Persie goal brings me to....

Secondly, Liam's Chocolate Fireguards scored 29 points this weekend which should keep me top of my league over the international break. If I'd played Michael Owen it would have been 32,  and John Terry then 35 but I am pleased with all of my team changes apart from that, where I left someone in who then not only kept a clean sheet as a defender but scored.

I got a Hahaha reply from a stranger in someone else's journal for a typo which I apparently corrected in a most humorous fashion. See

[personal profile] thebratqueen's migraine post for the evidence here.

Quiz came back in spite of postal strike and I won again! £15 this time and a move up to League A.

Life is good.
