Boris cries 'Enough!'
Feb. 2nd, 2009 01:17 pmObviously the Mayor of London has delusions of grandeur, bordering on regal disdain for reality as he appeared on telly in a Canute type fashion and said yes Nature, very pretty, but can you stop now.
I don't know. London is at a standstill thanks to 8 inches of snow. Admittedly it's the worst snowfall they've seen in 18 years and they have limited ploughing facilities as a result, but no buses were running, limited rail transport and airports closed.
We have snow already and more to come apparently this evening in greater amounts: half a metre was mentioned. Now that's more disruptive. Anyway, school has been closed this afternoon - unprecedented under this regime. The sun is out now of course, but some of the flurries this morning were really heavy and from the East, which is unusual. More later. Meanwhile here's the BBC link which is based in the South East of England so naturally has shots of fairly piddling amounts but lack of knowledge about coping means it's treated like The Great Frost of 1660 something. Now that was real cold. Boris Johnson, be grateful you weren't Mayor then.
