mistletoe: (Jesus not a zombie)

In other news, the rain is continuing to rain. My mother rang yesterday to say not to set out too soon for their place as there was a monsoon. This came as a bit of a shock as it was dry at home. Anyway, I lingered before going up to the market to see if the ham and bacon man was there. He wasn't but some rain was. Still not a deluge though. The rain stopped so I took the opportunity to walk along to the card shop to get Pat a birthday card and possibly an address book. This proved possible and for less than a fiver. Good. No bargains at Barry's the cheap shop so I walked back to the car in dry conditions.

About 5 miles down the road I came across large puddles where a downpour had just occurred. I finally hit the water here and continued through heavy rain to Durham where it kinda cleared up. Arrived at mam's as she opened the door to me and a brattle of thunder.

It then rained on and off for the afternoon so we watched the racing after a rather spiffy dinner at the pub over the road which stocked Peroni!

On the way home the road was closed for some reason I have yet to discover so a rather torturous country lane diversion went on for 5 miles. Got home to find the lads next door barbecuing in the garden. No rain. So weird.

Now, 10 miles away at Hexham they are having a thunderstorm and torrential rain at the racing. This is what you call localised weather.
