Well, all sorts of activities today. The exam results came out. I had three classes involved: two Year 9 SATs groups and one GCSE. There were five level 7s, which is the highest grade that can be achieved, quite a few 6s and, apart from one level 3 and one level 4, all the rest of mine gained level 5 which is the norm. Not bad from 57 kids.
In the GCSE class I had 10 Grade As, three of whom got A*, three Cs and all the rest got B. All higher grades in English which means they have their pick of 6th form colleges. I am over the moon for them. The Literature grades were not quite as good - no A*s but plenty of A's B's and C's. Again, they all got higher grades. So that was a good start to the day, especially as my target was 5 As from the group of 25. Altogether we got 20 out of them. Ha!
Of course, the head teacher was disappointed because we didn't hit our school target. I don't know, she can never celebrate the positives.
Out on a secret adventure in the afternoon as 8 of us met Joani's annual challenge. Last year, which coincided with my entry onto Live Journal, was the infamous slipperathon. This year: the Sockathon of Durham. We bought each other silly socks and other items for an ensemble then adjourned to the Italian restaurant for the revealathon.
I got mood socks: various smiley faces with descriptions. Very emo. I also got a pirate mobile phone holder (knitted in pink and black stripes, with skull and crossbones) and a very brightly striped pencil case which will be easily spotted on my disaster area of a desk at work. For food I had the affetato misto and riso pollo funghi. Delicious as ever. Home by 8 o'clock.
I then spent a fortune texting Trevor in the South of France at 1 o'clock in the morning with all the school news and sports updates. He was pleased.
