It;s been a strange day. First the good and interesting stuff (for me anyway.)

Now the sad news. The NUT General Secretary died suddenly today aged 56. I met him in 2004 when he was running for the position. He was a lovely man, very caring and committed to the teaching profession. We are going on strike for one day after the holidays - first NUT strike in 21 years - over pay and it is ironic that he won't be there to see it. Terrible news.

It's snowing today. Bloody freezing when we were at the shops, nasty northerly wind and everything. So I had a very nice steak at Elizabeth's restaurant to keep body and soul together.

And.... I'm on holiday weeee. Technically this is the Easter break. One week from now I'll be in Boston MA weeee (again). This is assuming BA don't lose our bags between Newcastle and Heathrow Terminal 5 which is still in meltdown 10 days after their official opening. After that it's Virgin Atlantic all the way baby.

The lovely Lynn retired yesterday. I can't believe it. That just leaves Trevor and Pat as having worked longer at the school than me. I must be on the final stretch now surely?
