There is nothing quite so stirring of the heart thsn Nimrod from elgar's Enigma Variations. Never fails to move.
Thanks for the rec. I have found that most of the individual accounts of wartime experience I have read have been the mosy effective. I have read quite a few: letters, diaries, some by renowned authors, others by ordinary people who happened to be caught up in that time because that was their time. I am always amazed by how perceptions have changed in the intervening years of what constitutes patriotism and duty. Not everyone could be a hero.
