Holiday weekend in America and the Battle of the Somme started today in 1916.

More interesting to you though is that the new month brings the new calendar piccies. Squeeee!

I have terrible camera shake, so 7 pictures taken result in maybe one that is not blurry. *sigh*

We'll have to make do I suppose.

The Peacock butterfly

The peacock

Peacock and peacock.

Yes, yes indeed.

In other news I am still suffering from last night's main course in what proved to be a disappointing meal out at a restaurant that served food without plates. We became trenchermen with separate dishes to carry the various types of chicken, salads and sides on wooden boards. Joani's salad came in a cup. At least the creme brulee was nice, but I managed to spill a strawberry and chocolate sauce on my off white shirt. It is in the bathroom sink soaking.

It's one of those Fox appearance thingies so I would say more bored than pensive.

And yes. If you are one of those people who eats everything in order: meat then salad then anything else they would have loved it. As it was, Joani couldn't tackle her salad because there was nowhere to tip the cup without it rolling all over the table. Plus, I'm never too confident of how hygienic wooden boards are. Consider my gippy tummy. We didn't leave a tip.

*ahem* Happy Canada Day. Holiday weekend for us too, and Wills and Kate are visiting Ottawa for the celebrations. I am heading in the other direction entirely.
It was reported on the news that Kate wanted to visit PEI because she loved Anne of Green Gables as a girl. I thought that was rather sweet. I don't imagine she'll have to fight her way through the Japanese tourists wearing red braids, like the rest of have to.
On to the good stuff: How perfect that the two peacocks turned up on the same month. My he does look rather dashing. He does clean up rather well.

See, I nearly put North America and then I thought I was confusing the Thanksgiving similarity and didn't. Sorry: God Bless Canada!

LOL at Japanese red braided tourists. We have a similar phenomenon with Beatrix Potter fanatics from the Far East except they don't wear Peter Rabbit ears.

Cleaned up is good.

And what am I doint on this Canada Day? Going to the US Tigers game tonight, followed by baseball tournament for my kid tomorrow. Going to have to pull myself away from Wimbledon, though

Again I say, you're the only reason I can remember to turn the page on my DB calendar. ;)

LOL "I bet there's a repeat in the second calendar" was my first thought as I scrolled down after admiring the butterfly :)

If the grand idea of the restaurant is to serve food without plates, I fail to see the grandness.

How did the striking go? Can't decide if NUT is a good name for a union or not. Easy to remember/giggle at. Have already forgotten the names of the other unions.

Well, I couldn't get it right so I had to try 3. Third times the charm and all that.

NUT NASUWT ATL are the main teaching unions. At least ours sounds like a word. I did not do the washing up and I drove by school to see if it was shut which it was.

I think the serving idea was to dish out meals as quickly as possible: salads could be prepared well in advance and issued quickly with everything. No need for the personal touch. Felt like a conveyor belt except service was no quicker than it ever was. Tummy still not right two meals later.

Nearly done for another year. Personally, I am watching the Cubs v the White Sox at the moment. Murray started well but Nadal has asserted himself.

Enjoyed all three attempts ;)

So you're a nut. My mother says I do crazy, dangerous things, so I'd probably qualify too ;) Plus I have not done the washing up either.

*Offers sympathies on tummy* though I have to admit to having an cast iron tummy, so can't fully fathom what you're going through.
