Get your skates on

Ah my favourite bit of January: the ISU European skating championships from Bern.

The Ice Dancers were up first, my favourites the Ice Dancing. A change in the rules meant they have two phases instead of the three compulsory, original and free. They now do a short dance and then the free. The British couple Sinead and John Kerr are in their final season and did the best short programme I've seen from them.

The dance had to include the Golden Waltz. They always choose good music and this time they aced it with Etta James' At Last and Shut up and let me go by the Ting tings. Great. John always has trouble with the twizzles, but this time he was spot on. They are 3rd going into the free and I hope they get a medal. I've put up At Last before when Sky used it for the return of Bones, but not the Ting tings so here it is.
You can see that on the ice I hope. I'm watching the pairs short at the moment and it is outstanding quality. The rink by the way is open and everyone has been issued with Army blankets in the audience to keep warm.
Great night out last night with friends for Sue's birthday. I just had the home made chicken liver pate and scampi to eat and a G & T for a treat. Didn't manage to eat everything because there was a huge amount of pate and the scampi came with salad and chips and vegetables. Finished with latte and tiffin. Omnomnom. Lou had the loin of venison in forest fruits sauce of which I had a taste and it was superb. The venison was so tender. Sue had Moroccan lamb stew with couscous and Pat had chicken fajitas. Pretty eclectic restaurant as you can tell. Sue liked the trinket box and the apple clock that should have been for Christmas so that was all right.
Bones tonight and Mel has been squeeing all week so I hope it pans out. I need optimism!
Just to finish, the last Pairs couple from the Czech Republic danced to this.

I tell you these Europeans have been better than the Olympics. Even the falls have been limited. Pairs final tonight. Eurosport is the best because they show every skater.
We have been friends 4 EVA! y/y?

Date: 2011-01-27 05:48 pm (UTC)Speaking of Bones, I am really excited for a good episode after last week's drivel, but I'm trying not to overdo it. I was way over the top for Hero in the Hold, and ended up disappointed. Anyway, DB is directing again, so looking forward to what he will do this time out.
