I am doing the quiz, because it's there and I was looking for something on YouTube when I got sidetracked as usual. So, it being Sunday I have a video for you of Torvill and Dean at the 1984 World Championships in Canada. They were already Olympic champions having triumphed in Sarajevo. Who would believe then what happened to that city afterwards? They had got 12 sixes then. At the World Championships they broke the record for the most 6s given. Rather than Bolero I offer you the Original Dance, a sequence that is danced three times exactly the same. This is Chris the matador and Jayne the cape. In many ways I thought this was a better. more challenging routine and I just love the music. They got 6s for this too. Ice dancing has moved on so far from this that it resembles pairs with better ideas and fewer throws. The marking has changed for reasons other than the perfection of this couple, but they had their part to play in having to allow for such faultless dancing.

I adored them. Still my favorite ice dancing team of all time.

Weren't they great? I love the spontaneous applause that broke out as they skated to certain parts of the rink and how the crowd cheers got louder as they reached the climax each time. Unsurpassed in my opinion as dancers.

Nowadays there's too much of the gymnast about it. Our current champions are a Scottish brother and sister who embrace their heritage with Scottish music and costumes.
