mistletoeSunderland 3 Middlesbro 2. Yes we are now definitely safe and it's thanks to yet another injury time goal; this time an own goal by Pogatetz thank you very much. So we have retained our Premiership status for a second year this time, and it looks like the two that came up with us may be going straight back down: Derby certainly and Birmingham possibly. Unless we can beat Bolton next week when it can become very interesting for them depending on the other results 'cos their last game is at Chelsea who haven't lost at home for 4 years.
They beat Man Utd there today and Sir Alex totally spit the dummy out because the linesman had the temerity to flag for handball and the ref had the nerve to award the penalty. What a great big girl's blouse.
Incidentally, our ref was the Bennett man who disallowed our winning goal against Villa. He wasn't so bad today. In fact he dealt very well with a head clash between Pogatetz and Kenwyne Jones that left Jones flat out in the penalty area. He came back on with a big bandage round his head. That was three of them that had bloodied faces. Exciting second half with plenty of elbows and niggles. Proper derby game.
e.t.a. Daryl Murphy scored the winner, no doubt about it and their equaliser looked off-side. The linesman gave our goal which had just crossed the line before it was hooked out. Deserved win.
