That was our first back to back victories in 94 Premiership games. This puts Sunderland up to 13th position with a -20 goal difference which is BETTER than Reading and Newcastle below them.

Derby were relegated on equal points with Sunderland's worst ever record. We may lose that unwanted tag, especially if the current top two in the Championship come up: they have no chance.
In other news. Mam and I went to Durham in glorious Spring sunshine and came home through wind and torrential rains. I don't know which coat to take to America. How unpredictable is the weather? The clocks go forward to British Summertime tonight, the first time in my memory that has happened after Easter. Anyway, I got some new clothes of a spring-like thickness and a travel adaptor suitable for British plugs in foreign parts.
This is assuming we can actually get to Heathrow from Newcastle as we will be on a BA flight, god willing, to Terminal 5 which seems to be terminal before it's even got properly open. All to do with luggage apparently. Hundreds of flights have been cancelled since Thursday and 15,000 bags have gone astray. Hopefully, a fortnight's grace will see it sorted out.
We also bought a mobile phone for the parents after their contretemps in Horden last week which left them with 2 slashed tyres and no way to contact help. Fortunately the other 5 couples who had damaged cars did have phones so they were able to borrow one to contact the AA and get towed home after midnight.
I was out for my third meal of the week last night. This is unheard of conviviality for me but thoroughly enjoyable particularly as two of the meals cost nothing: one from quiz winnings and one from Union funds. Sometimes, life is sweet.
