mistletoe: (trees in snow)

Sent home! Can you believe it? Lunch time it had been snowing all morning. In fact I think it has just stopped. So the decision was made in spite of there being a GCSE exam this afternoon. Of course, it's only snowing here so once you get off the hills it's just rained everywhere else. Anyway, here's some pics I took when I got home.

The view to the front. You can see we have had no wind, or snow plough for that matter.

My apple tree.

My plum tree.

I made my icon from this one.

It's supposed to freeze tonight and then rain tomorrow. We'll see. Meanwhile travel chaos thanks to torrential rain elsewhere in the country.

Ooooh... lovely! All sugary and beautiful. what a treat -- at least you're home and warm. Hopefully you won't have to go into work tomorrow, if it freezes.

The forecasts have been so accurate lately it's unnerving and the road is clear outside now. I suspect we'll be in tomorrow when it's all gross and slushy.

I remember when it snowed when I lived in the UK- but it was like an inch of snow so I hauled my cookies to school (no mean feat as I was going by bus) and arrived to find that school had been canceled. LOL I'm from Canada! We don't cancel school for an inch of snow...or even 3 inches!

I know! You must bear in mind it's decades since we had real snowstorms here so the country seizes up at the first sign of white. Our Councils just aren't geared up for it any more. A couple of inches and it's the Ice Age.

Please don't mock our puny ways. Some colleagues took more than 2 hours to travel 20 miles; some children didn't get in today because the bus driver wouldn't go down the hill in their village. Wimps. Bring back the 10 foot drifts and buried cars of the early 80s I say though that was exacerbated by a council workers strike so no roads were gritted for a fortnight. I crashed my car sideways into a potato lorry, got out of the car and promptly fell over on the frozen snow on the road. Happy days.
