smoke signals
Jan. 21st, 2008 04:31 pm Sent home! Can you believe it? Lunch time it had been snowing all morning. In fact I think it has just stopped. So the decision was made in spite of there being a GCSE exam this afternoon. Of course, it's only snowing here so once you get off the hills it's just rained everywhere else. Anyway, here's some pics I took when I got home.

The view to the front. You can see we have had no wind, or snow plough for that matter.

My apple tree.

My plum tree.

I made my icon from this one.
It's supposed to freeze tonight and then rain tomorrow. We'll see. Meanwhile travel chaos thanks to torrential rain elsewhere in the country.

Date: 2008-01-22 06:54 pm (UTC)Please don't mock our puny ways. Some colleagues took more than 2 hours to travel 20 miles; some children didn't get in today because the bus driver wouldn't go down the hill in their village. Wimps. Bring back the 10 foot drifts and buried cars of the early 80s I say though that was exacerbated by a council workers strike so no roads were gritted for a fortnight. I crashed my car sideways into a potato lorry, got out of the car and promptly fell over on the frozen snow on the road. Happy days.
