mistletoeWeather is as predicted. Gobsmacked. Second inch is currently falling. Now if only the wind would get up it could be worth it. As it is I can still see grass poking through and the road is clear. Lower temperature is required. However, it is forecast to go tomorrow. Bah! (first of the year.) Which reminds me: I haven't first-footed the house yet. I think my record was 4 days and I will match that this year as I don't anticipate going out today. OOO proper flakes falling now. Think I'll have curry for dinner.
In other news the lads had a chance last night when they got a penalty! Sadly, Dean Whitehead missed. Then Blackburn scored a penalty and we had a man sent off. So in the bottom three again and with the FA Cup taking place this week we'll be there for a fortnight. Hmph.
Today's forgotten word is rather boring because it is redundant in the current age: basket-fortune which is basically a dowry. The information on the rest of the page was quite interesting. It concerned casket girls who came to Louisiana from France in1728 to become brides. The casket contained clothes rather than a body which were used as a bribe to get them to agree to emigrate to America. They were supervised by Ursuline nuns and all managed to get a husband.
