Hee. your name is great! we would all make mighty warriors... and now i have led zeppelin's immigrant song stuck in my head. which is pretty much all i know about the vikings. *g*
Surely you saw the Tony Curtis film?!? The epitome of Viking-ness I'm sure you'll agree.
Also I live not too far from York where you can visit Viking Jorvik - authentic stench and all.
I have also met the late Magnus Magnusson, a television presenter with Icelandic heritage, who wrote an exciting book about Vikings illustrated by an ex-colleague of mine. I could tell you a thing or two about Vikings. I could be one!
york! that's wonderful! doubtless you have quite a bit of viking in your heritage. do you ever have the urge to conquer unknown lands? *g* and what is the viking jorvik? is it one of the places they landed? tell me more about them!
The Vikings (1958) co-starring Kirk Douglas as his half brother. See imdb for information.
Jorvik was the Viking name for York and lots of well preserved (thanks to waterlogging) items were found in the Coppergate area of the city which formed the basis of the Jorvik Museum where you can take a time capsule to visit the Viking settlement. Here's the website tour page: http://www.jorvik-viking-centre.co.uk/visit6.htm
York, a city that is home to 10,000 people and is covered in filth and muck hee! i love how that site tempts me with the realistic smells and such of ancient times.
wow, i wish i could visit. i remember reading about the danelaw and various waves of settlers in england, as it related to linguistic diffusion, but i don't know a whole lot about their trade routes and such, further east. thanks for the link! that was very cool.
