Trips and traps
Aug. 16th, 2007 11:16 amYork yesterday, which I really love as a city but it turned out to be rather a non-event: bought nothing, went in nowhere, did very little except try out the park-and-ride, have our lunch and drink coffee in Starbucks while it rained. I think the parents were too old.
Other things this week. The mouseys have not all gone. Gasp! We had a triumph at the quiz on Tuesday night, wiping the floor with the opposition in spite of the plethora of geography questions. Torrential rain on the way there turned roads into small rivers. Anyway, got home flushed with success and I was just catching up on the football scores when I was distracted by movement. A MOUSEY was advancing towards me across the floor. At my gasp of 'Oh my God!' the bugger retreated beneath the telly and wouldn't come out. I set the trap with fruit cake and went to bed. Nothing was caught and still hasn't been. But now I know there's one around somewhere. Incidentally, I was quite pleased I didn't leap on the chair and shriek, which I did do when ourflop-house flat was invaded when I was at University.
And now a small amount of creativity: I cannot explain the huge gap.
Letters of confirmation came from Sky today. The excitement is building.

Sunderland achieved a creditable draw 2 - 2 at Birmingham last night. It was mixed as a game. McShane, who I really like as a player, scored an unfortunate og; Chopra got a corking equaliser; we were denied a stonewall penalty, hit the bar, let them score what seemed like the winner and then equalised in the last minute while their goaly was tangled up with one of our players on the deck. That's football, but my nerves are shredded after just two games. Wigan away on Saturday which may be tricky and then Liverpool on the telly again. We face Manchester Utd soon but Ronaldo was sent off last night so can't play. Whoo-hoo!
