Glutton for punishment
May. 21st, 2007 10:15 pmBit of a kerfuffle on at the minute I see. As I have friends on both sides I've chosen to ignore it and just follow my own heart.
So T minus 1 for the GCSE subject I teach and I'm probably more nervous than the kids. Literature tomorrow and a long day ahead as we are offering bacon butties and a warm up at 8am, exam at 9am, teaching till 3.15 then a parents evening until 7. No quiz tomorrow then. However, holidays loom again, so it's a week off to catch up on sleep, haircut and the gasman coming to put in a new meter. That'll be fun when it's sited in a pull out pantry. I will wait to see how that goes on Tuesday.
Didn't post last week at all as it was hell on wheels with multiple people in France, off ill, or doing multi-cultural day which resulted in me doing cover twice in one day. That left me with one non-contact time until Friday. Suffice it to say we had to go to the Italian on Wednesday as we couldn't wait until Thursday before having chips. Mine were with pollo dolcelatte which is definitely my favourite. I was so pleased I had the Tiramisu as well and as I wasn't driving, 2 Peroni.
The Music festival got over with assorted singers over 2 days of assorted ability, but the adjudicator was lovely. He has been involved with the Sainsbury's BBC Choir of the year and won it in 2005. Lovely man and very funny. He told a story of a fellow adjudicator's handling of a choir which gradually got flatter and flatter as they went on. In his adjudication he praised their intonation and feel for the piece (a bit of Elgar) but had to note their lack of pitch. 'But,' he said, 'at least, like the Titanic, you all went down together.'
After my experience of the previous weekend when sitting for hours on hard chairs resulted in extreme stiffness for the whole week I had a bath instead of a shower yesterday and got up this morning with barely a twinge. Of course actually getting into the bath was an adventure in itself. I don't think my knees are going to last as long as the rest of me.
So, what else? No more Bones for the next few months. Sky finish the series this week, only 7 days after America. I would say the season has been OK but it seems absolutely eons since it started so as a result lacked impact or residual tension. I don't know whether that's as a result of how it stopped and started, the Sully arc which I didn't like, or the fact that there was only a handful of standout episodes. Still, Gordon Gordon was quite amusing. I wonder when the DVDs will be out and if I'll buy them. Probably will.
Here's a picture cos I feel like it.

Oh Yeah
