First off: it's almost like the old days.

WBA 1 Sunderland 2 Scorers: Dwight Yorke, Stern John. Darren Carter, who chose to sign for them rather than us after he had been quite promising when he was on loan at our place, came on for Phillips and scored. Oh the irony. We are still 4th but we're now level on points with those above and only 3 points off top spot. All 7,258 tickets for the away game at Barnsley (16th in table) were sold within minutes. I can't believe the power of Keane-o. Only downside was Carlos Edwards getting injured in a foul missed by our old friend Dermot Gallagher. At least he sent one of their lads off when they were looking for the equaliser. Can it be the dream come true for Niall? I hope so.

Today, spring cleaning took place. Copious bags of rubbish to the bin and even more of paper, card and calendars into the recycling bin mean I have partially reclaimed the back bedroom and can now see the carpet. If the back hadn't gone wonky I could have done the desk too. Still, the worst is over and it feels like I can tackle the rest on my own. So, early night tonight because I had to pick my mam up in Durham just after 9 and apart from a sandwich we didn't stop until 2.

Randomness #4. Our local freebie paper featured another of our former students this week. (I didn't mention last week's front page was a former pupil convicted of murder three streets away from me. My hairdresser does his mother's hair.) Anyway, This week: a Military Cross for a boy who showed conspicuous bravery in Afghanistan and he's only 24. I didn't teach him but I certainly taught his brother who sadly was a complete nutter i.e. mentally unstable. The paper went to town on him and had a two page story which is virtually unknown. He said he was more nervous meeting the Queen than being under heavy fire from the Taliban. Bless,
