I am in laid back mode.

Here is my day so far.
Got up.
Ate Danish pastry.
Noticed one of the Amaryllis had flowered.
Put meat in oven.
Watched Queen live in Milton Keynes on Sky Anytime.

Took pic of Amaryllis.
Changed batteries in camera.
Uploaded pic.

Answered some comments.
Checked meat.

In the midst of all this I tried to help mother with new phone. It's true that you get too old for new technology. Or it may be duff equipment. Anyway. Every time my mam uses the phone it cuts out on her mid-call. 5 minutes and it's gone. I'm baffled. Any thoughts? It's a cordless BT thing they got. It may be them. My dad has broken the telly on numerous occasions because he just overuses the remote channel hopping, changing the setting so the subtitles are on, then off, using the mute button all the time.. The poor telly can't keep up. Every time a man comes to fix it there is nothing wrong.

Off to make Yorkshire puddings now!

Your amaryllis is lovely!

We used to have one of those BT cordless phones. The batteries might be shot - do they leave it on or off the base a lot they can get over-charged or under-charged?

Have they replaced the handset batteries with normal ones rather than the rechargeable ones it came with? My mum did that once LOL.

Useful questions! They have had the phone 2 weeks so the batteries are not an issue. However, they leave the phone on the stand all the time. I told her yesterday that they should leave the phone off the stand for hours in the day, but I think she forgot when they got home. The whole point of the phone was so they could have the handset in the sitting room with them. I'll mention it again tomorrow when she isn't so frazzled. It probably is overcharged. She said today that it flashed 'searching' while she was using it.

Hmmm.. that's sometimes a base problem though - are they using an old plug socket set or something where the power could be fluctuating? Ours searches if the base is missing power.

Another avenue of enquiry!

I am trying to sort this fic out that I've been writing. Because I have to snatch time to write these days I've been sending it in emails to my phone back and forth - and consequently it starts at the end and ends at the beginning LOL! Been switching it about and seeing what else I need to add. Want to publish it before the next ep airs.

Well the house was all rewired when the subsidence was dealt with so that doesn't sound right. She can ring the helpline on Monday and see what they say.

O-O new fic!! Yes please.

Phew we just scored a very very very late equaliser. What a relief.

What a pretty amaryllis.

Danish pastry sounds delicious. I started the day with sesame seeds all over the kitchen counter, slight mishap when blitzing them for the bread. Should have gone Danish too.

Not sure about the phone. There's a dead spot in the kitchen, calls always get cut off if you walk around with the phone there. But it's not time sensitive, so it must be the phone, not the reception on your parents case. At least it's something to cross off the list if the phone manufacturer starts blaming bad reception...

Isn't it a beaut? And look I have an owl here. largely inspired by the owl bookend you covet desire. Silly price though. I have a sleeping monk bookend which I got at what used to be a really good shop called Past Times. The firm went bust, so it is a shadow of its former self with very limited stock.

Is that a Christmas cactus I see as well? It's blooming beautifully. How long have you had it? My mother has a Christmas cactus that is still blooming after 40 years. It's practically indestructible.

I've had this one about 5 years. The one before that was 25 years old. I got it as a housewarming present, but it stopped flowering about 10 years ago. I think it got too pot bound one time and never recovered.

I like this Christmas cactus because it is an unusual colour. The other one had pink flowers. I moved the white Christmas cactus along the windowsill to make room for the Amaryllis as it has stopped flowering for the season. It went right over Christmas!
