At last, a game I am looking forward to is about to kick off. Netherlands v Denmark features some class players and Holland need to meet their potential for once. They usually play the best football but fall to defensive teams on the break. Of course the best team they had was nobbled by the Germans in the infamous spitting match although neither team came out of that one clean.

Speaking of Germans they flattened Australia yesterday. They were already 2-0 up when Tim Cahill, Australia's best option for scoring, was harshly sent off. My enjoyment of the game via Radio 5 commentary was ruined by Robbie Savage's over the top praise of the German team. Obviously they were going to be better than the Aussies you berk, so it was hard to judge what they would be like against a more skilful bunch. But Savage was all: 'these are amazing, these are the best. We better watch out for this lot.' Well naturally, because all the teams we've seen so far are further down the FIFA list than them - even us. Grrr. I don't like Savage. Must look up how Wales did against the Germans when they played last. Ah yes. I thought they were in the same qualifying group. Got beaten 2-0 Ballack and an o.g.

Anyway, more later when the game gets under way.

Robbie Savage is a complete TWONK.

The Germans were great, but Australia are hardly a match for them. Wasn't England's game a damp squib??!

Now that's what I call an icon!

Yes the best radio moment ever involved Savage when he got hit in the face by the ball live on air. I heard that and was laughing as much as the other commentator. Holland were a bit poor but better than us. I don't think King will be fit.

Ain't it fab? From [livejournal.com profile] greatbriton who has gone World Cup mad - lots of England icons over there for those of us not born-again Welsh ;)

LMAO @ Savage getting thwacked - that's incredibly awesome!!!!

I don't think so either. Capello really made a hash of squad selection. Sigh.
