Weekend's worth of Remembrance so haven't posted.Try this:

It's a bit different, and he lived until 1962. Gibson came from Hexham which is quite close to where I live. Not bad for 1914 I thought.
Also:

And:

And for good measure:

School on Friday was very good. The kids responded well to the poetry and Inspection went OK. Surprisingly, none of thm knew the Last Post when I played it off the Royal British Legion Cdrom. Hmmm.
Saturday it rained like anything. Took mam up to shops in the deluge. We had to change our clothes when we got back absolutely wringing wet..
Sunday watched the Cenotaph stuff on telly as moving as ever. The man on Radio 4 read eye witness accounts of the first day of the Somme while the Royal party moved off and his voice got shakier and shakier as he was moved by the words 90 years on.

Two entries in a week! Over use of exclamation marks! Bones! But first the tedium of work while Bones d/loaded at home.
I had no dinner! 15 minutes late due to photocopier angst and there was nothing left but carrots, mash, sausage rolls and rude children. I didn't fancy any of it so: nothing for dinner! Gulp. Furthermore the water heater had finally given up the ghost and there was no coffee!!! Went outside for consolatory cigarette and a 20 minute sulk. Bloody freezing so I only lasted 10 minutes.

I was going to do something experimental with pork and Moroccan spices for tea but went home via fish and chip shop instead. Thank God for Britain's need for grease at tea time. Most children don't seem to understand the concept of homework by the way.
Now, on to the good stuff.

Anniversary has arrived and I nearly missed it. November 1994 was a life changing month for me. I'm still here for one thing. If I had not gone to the optician when my depth of vision seemed impaired, he would not have sent me to my doctor. She would not have sent me to Newcastle General and they would not have operated to remove the non-malignant tumour that was attached like a giant spider to my olfactory nerve. I have virtually no sight in my left eye, no sense of smell and I prefer not to drive in the dark, but I would have missed

It is a precious commodity. Don't waste it in petty behaviour. Luxuriate in it because you only get one go.
