Just passing
Mar. 22nd, 2007 06:37 pmMy brain hurts. Actually it's just overfull with all the stuff I have to do at work, which has resulted in me losing key bits of paper in the sea of other important but less essential bits of paper which are now on 4 tables as well as my desk. Aaaargh!
A few things to say. I just watched the latest Bones. Enjoyable at last for various reasons.
I read a ficlet yesterday which added to the brainache because it was good, and thought-provoking and good, and simple but complex, and good. Go look It's the estimable
lostakasha. Now I want to work out my thoughts about Angel's curse so I'm going away to try and will come back if it's worth posting my first bit of meta. eep. I know it's been done before but I want to add my two penn'orth. Also, I need more Bones icons. Curse you Plus Account and your measly 15!
A few things to say. I just watched the latest Bones. Enjoyable at last for various reasons.
At first I was a little, no a lot, worried about the start when we had Sully and Bones on a boat and she was on vacation - again? Didn't she have one of those at the start of Season 2. Anyway, it wasn't long before Seeley hove (nautical term) into view to haul Bones off to a crime scene. This happened a few times. By the way, does Sully actually work at the FBI? It looks like he fills in when Booth tells him to, but otherwise he's freelance.
A plus point was most of Booth's dialogue with everybody, especially Bones, lots of sly little comments about how difficult she is to work with; the failure rate if her relationships (he need talk) and the fact that she's come up in his therapy sessions but he's not going to say what he said about her. He He He.
Then there were all his reactions to the squick factor of the body. They were even better than Angela's. He was suitably clumsy when in pursuit of the martial arts fiance who had no redeeming features whatsoever and even used one of Angel's manouevres in the final chase where Bones proved she couldn't catch him either. The mighty punch to the jaw with which he caught the guy was worth the clumsiness of earlier - and one-upped Sully again.
He was considered cute by the Chinese lady who pinched his cheek - just like Bones and Wesley have done. How can 37 year old men be treated like children?
Finally there was the altruism of telling Brennan she should go with Sully and live wide. Of course she didn't and he probably knew she wouldn't. so there he was at the end with a better guy hug than Sully's.
Thank God he's gone. I found his mannerisms irritating in the extreme and his acting at best adequate. The only ride he'll get on Temperance now is the boat. Quite right. What would she do for a year off the Turks and Caicos? I can't see Sully forgetting about himself long enough to engage in stimulating conversation.
