EEE. Went to the theatre last night and saw the Opera North with Rigoletto. What a treat! Three of us went: me Debra and Pat. It had been Debra's idea on Friday last week and we went this week. Only £20 too for an excellent evening. I was the only one who knew the plot or any of the music apart from La donna e mobile but I didn't let them know what would happen.
The production was electric: all sleazy and sort of 50s in feel with Rigoletto and Gilda living in a caravan. Bella figlia was an excellent ensemble rendition and the ending in the thunderstorm was stupendous. They were well applauded at the end. The chap singing Rigoletto was mesmerising and I can't say how much we enjoyed it.

Meanwhile, it has rained all week except for one hour on Tuesday. This was good timing as we had Paul Collingwood in school doing a bit of training with Year 7 and 8. He's on the telly now bowling for England against the West Indies at Chester-le-Street which is just down the road. Yvette, Alan and Trev are there now sharing the dream.
