Where was I? as Peterborough once famously said. Oh silly LJ you wound me on a black day salvaged by a burst of Bones or more accurately DAVID.

Yes things have been unpleasant today thanks to curmudgeonly youths with the sense of humour level akin to poop-throwing monkeys. You can tell I'm miffed by the over-proper syntax and polysyllabic vocabulary dotted with hyphens. Precision of a poignard. God I'm wasted in the 21st century. I could vituperate with Johnson at the moment.

I was gung-ho for the new dawn: group seating greeted with pleasure; question wall eyed with envy by colleagues and superiors alike as you may recall. Today I put out postits on the tables and announce any queries gratefully received from students who would like clarification or greater knowledge on such topics as semi-colons. The results? All the post it blocks have vanished and the questions range from pornographic to inappropriate comments about members of staff = and I mean members. The disappointing fact? They were the product of the top set A-C GCSE candidates. Needless to say I lost it Angelus-style; tore down the display; vented my spleen for 15 minutes and let the Deputy head loose on them. I have to teach them until next June. I will not be speaking to one of them for that length of time

I have had steak and chips and a rather pleasant little cadeaux of Gorgeous chocolates along with drink of my choice in order to compensate and feel pretty damn fine.

So I was all the more pleased that I remembered to set torrents away this morning and could watch The Man in the Mansion after therapeutic shopping.

Well it wasn't brilliant on the story front - far too rapid a resolution right up to the conviction and an impossible way to do the witness evidence but the group dynamics were spot on. David is right: this show is not procedural it is character driven and they are developing by leaps and bounds. I loved Caroline's assessment of their non-procedural 'cos it's just tv gaffes from letting Epps go to having her car totalled. Why is only Booth in therapy then? As for that: David does throwaway lines so well and he had furrowed brow dork!Angel channeled for much of the Gordon-Gordon stuff.

So, it didn't take Bones long to jump Sully's err bones and did we have to have the well endowed news so tub-thumped at us. I don't care: he's a dickhead whether it's large or small. On that analogy he must be huge to match the ego. Too shallow Tempe, walk away before it ends in tears. Still that'll probably mean more guy hugs from Booth so it's all good.

I thought he was pretty ambivalent in his denial to Sully about whether he wanted Bones himself or not. One thing this show does not do well is subtle: if in doubt hit us over the head with it several times whether it be Booth's socks or how the nefarious crime was done. But there? Not too sure and certainly not the plausible deniability of earlier protestations. Me thinks he did not protest too much.

So Hodgins how high is your IQ? You the ultimate paranoid cover-up exposer tried to cover up an affair and some evidence what did you expect? I liked how angry Booth was as if he had been betrayed and how understanding Angela was. Incidentally, it is seriously annoying me that everything she says is accompanied by nodding or shaking of her head, to such a degree that she is now distracting me from the dialogue. Now I look back at the episodes she does it all the time. Grrr I hate that I have noticed something like that 'cos it'll never go away now.

Well, Friday looms and a week off to recharge the batteries before the next round of Parents evening, marking and reports.
Lovely.
