mistletoeI know there's only me reading this cos... friends... daren't dip the toe in yet, but they say tomorrow never comes. Well it did, just two weeks later than I anticipated. So
Also I read an OK article yesterday which made me go all fangirly cos the last song David downloaded was the same one as me! See below. Aah synchronicity.
The dentist confirmed I had lost half a tooth though the filling was still intact. This was my first post-youhavetogoprivateorsuffertheconsequences visit so it was all 'would you like a tissue' how about a white filling' kissy-kissy stuff. Get downstairs to make appointment with Rosa Kleb the dental hygienist. 'Would you like to pay now the receptionist says. Sure I say £40 she says. WHAT!!! For a filling that I'm already paying £10 a month for!?! Still there was 20% discount. Pffft.
Now then Bones. As a result of my hiatus there have been two whole episodes to download before everything stops for baseball playoffs. Honestly, World Series does not mean what you think it does. It was a sponsor. Anyway here are my thinks about Bones.Second series is always a worry but I think they've done better than I feared. New character Cam is probably trying too hard but then you can only work with the script you get and she has a lot to get across in a short time to build the character so it all seems terribly intense.
Established characters? Well Jack is definitely going down the coolness road with alacrity although the 'romance' with Angela is just so telegraphed it's painful. And there lies my problem. The show is formulaic by definition but the 1 sorry, 2- dimensionality of the characters reminds me of Angel at its worst. Ok which hoop can we jump through this week? Well Booth is a sexy guy with a past let's have him sleep with someone... but not Brennan 'cos we're only 4 episodes in and the fans just watch to see when Booth and Bones get it on.
So Booth has to fuck his ex and his other ex. Nah. Not him. For a man supposedly all about integrity and the Anerican way I can't see him doing that for a quick lay. Even saying it was a mistake doesn't get him off the hook. I have never seen Booth as shallow so, to me - ooc.
Mind you, DB is so relaxed in the character now he's almost comatose. So many lines are disappearing out the side of his mouth that I don't understand half of what he says. Still what a sight! He is in his prime and I would like to preserve him like this forever. Why has he gone all casual in his clothes? One epi, can't remember which, he was wearing Angel's clothes. Not that I'm complaining 'cos I like all his looks clothed or otherwise.
Zach? What is he supposed to be? He needs something to happen in the show.
Missing? The Chinese restaurant. It was Booth's place and I don't think he would just stop going in exchange for a sleazy diner. Bring back Goodman.
Stories have been very strong and professionally done with superb gross out factors every time. I also like the humour going on.
