Eat your heart out lads
Jun. 20th, 2010 03:44 pmSo England are all upset about being booed. They don't know what's gone wrong. I'll tell you what's gone wrong. Capello. O_o NZ have just scored against Italy!!! New Zealand beat Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Bahrain to get there. Pah! They got their first point ever in a World Cup finals last week. But they have scored because they had the belief. England players believe they have a right to be in the team and showed no passion under pressure. They are in the comfort zone and have been for some time. Trouble is, they have forgotten how to fight, for a place, for the game, for a goal. Capello has treated the finals like the usual get together for a game. Those last for 4 days. This is 6 weeks and he has not changed his approach one iota. When a team needs to practise moves and set plays, he isn't even telling them who is playing in the game until the last minute. What's the point of that? I could tell you the team for the first game 3 weeks before it happened and I was right. So what is Capello trying to achieve with secrecy? It is not keeping players on their toes because the key members already know they are in because they always are whether they are playing well or not.
Personally, I would drop Lampard, Heskey, Rooney and Carragher based on form. That was what Mr Capello used to do and his go to players were able to perform. However, what does he do when they are out of form? Apparently, he continues to pick them. My midfield would be Gerrard (simply because he is captain), James Milner, Gareth Barry and Joe Cole. That is based on form. I would have Crouch and Defoe up front because they play for the same club. At the back I would have James, Johnson (for lack of anyone better), Terry, Upson and Ashley Cole. This is based on form. It's not ideal, because we are light in defence, but they couldn't do any worse than who Capello picked.
Now Paraguay. Two Sunderland players so they are my second team after Chile. Today, they beat Slovakia in a game 5Live commentators were very dismissive about. Pah! Italy have just been given a penalty for nothing. There were the USA team getting rived all over the place and got nothing, not even the goal they scored while it was happening. Anyway, Paraguay won 2-0 and Christiano Riveros (Sunderland) scored the second from the edge of the box. Here he is:

It was an excellent goal. Paolo Da Silva acquitted himself very well in defence and it looks like they might go through because they just have New Zealand to play. Should beat them. Aaaaand the French team have gone on strike, refusing to train because of an 'on field dispute'. Nicolas Anelka has been sent home for insulting the coach. Raymond Domenech, who is not a popular figure, has clearly lost the dressing room.
In other news, my filled tooth cracked yesterday and part of it fell off, so that means another visit to the dentist this week. I have trapped a total of three mice over three consecutive nights but the trap was empty this morning.
