Sunderland Stoke Stiles Ssssss

Another penalty claim denied in the first half didn't matter in the end as we stuttered to a 2 - 0 defeat of Stoke. I will watch it later to make my own mind up about how they did. We're up to 11th anyway which is all that matters. Next two games Liverpool and Arsenal away will give some clearer idea of how we're doing. Heck! Portsmouth have just scored against Liverpool. What a surprise.

Snow flurries this morning although the forecast didn't mention it, though they didn't amount to much. There is a warning of sub-zero temperatures overnight (-10) and more snow for Monday. It's almost worth having a broken ankle.

Further thoughts on Bones. Maybe I've forgotten how to look for sub-text when the series has been so superficial. Will re-watch. David is becoming a very good actor.

England are embarrassingly 28 for 7 against the West Indies. Bah!

Suffering succotash Styles

Just watched the game. Pah!  We're not lucky with penalties. especially if your name is Steed Malbranque. Last week he was fouled in the box and Howard Webb deemed he had fouled Taylor and gave a penalty. This week he is heading the ball into the net from 3 yards out and Danny Pugh armed it off the line. Not the best of games but how Styles missed the handball will remain a mystery along with the fate of the Mary Celeste and what people saw in George W Bush as a leader of the Western World. Blatant is not the word. Anyway, they held their nerve and scored 2 against 10 men. Styles correctly sent Etherington off, but then booked Danny Collins and gave Stoke a free kick. He must have felt sorry for them. The man is at least incompetent.

The first goal was courtesy of our ex-goalie Thomas Sorensen. Kenwyne was too embarrassed to celebrate. Thanks Tommy.
Our second came in a blinding snowstorm from David Healy in the 94th minute. It's about time we scored a late winner again. Sbragia was diplomatic about the referee; Tony Pulis felt hard done by. Yes the fortunes of war.

Still 3 points though. Heh heh. Only blight was Newcastle won too. Bah!
