Cultural Yearnings
Oct. 1st, 2008 09:09 pmCulturally bereft is my current default setting apparently. A desert of troglodytes and philistines my lot. So I was ultra-pleased to receive a text from my much missed former colleague Debra sounding out my desire for another trip to th opera. I was hooked immediately. To my utter delight the fare on offer was even more er delightful: Tosca. Now I would go a long way to see this opera live and I only have to get to Newcastle. I got blackberry thumb in my eagerness to say yes. I would even go if Pat didn't want to and I had to get to *gulp* Jesmond, on my own in the dark driving through a city I do not know. But, all was well as Pat is going too. Rapture. I am in total transports already and it's not until November. Shows my level of deprivation. Anyway, salivating aside, I am OK.
I forgot it was the 1st today and so did not turn over my calendars. I now have on view: David in a leather jacket; Michelangelo's self portrait from the Sistine Chapel and Wast Water, Cumbria. They've soothed my sensibilities anyway.
Tomorrow we have two interviews for possible replacements for Debra. She is a hard act to follow.
