where is everybody?
May. 19th, 2008 09:47 pmThings seem very quiet at the moment and I haven't got much to add so have some bullet points
- Last Bones tonight which I shall download in the morning and watch tomorrow. Let's hope it doesn't disappoint. I presume they'll release the truncated season on DVD - full price no doubt. Let's also hope they'll make more episodes than 22 in Season 4 though I doubt that'll happen. I saw David on Craig Ferguson and , well, nothing much was said really except he claimed to be 28 for his birthday last Friday. Ha! It could be true just looking at him. You'll always be 28, just like Rebecca will always be 24. Actually, he'll always be 26 to me 'cos that's how old he was when he first appeared on Buffy. Looks much better now. No wonder Ferguson has a mancrush.
- Disappointing to see the Flyers got well whupped in the 5th game of the semis, ending their interest in the Stanley Cup. Too many injuries apparently. Well you'll have to wait until next season now. Even though I don't follow hockey, I was very impressed with David's seeming knowledge of the game and the team expressed in his blog. I wish he would do the Fox one again.
- Elsewhere Debra got a new job on Friday which rather leaves us in the lurch in the department. I can take on the online newspaper the kids produce but not the GCSE Media classes nor the 2nd in department job. That drops us to two full time English teachers in the school and a very good reputation to try to maintain. We can't replace the other member of the department who had his contract terminated because the school is in debt to the tune of £150.000. I foresee trauma.
- Sue, another friend, also got a new job today so she is out of the unpleasantness that her school has become thanks to a new head and his youthful
miniondeputy who can't even spell mathematics. - On the sporting front the football season is over apart from the playoffs and the Champions League Final in Moscow on Wednesday. We aren't in Euro 2008 so I'll have to support someone else in that, maybe Croatia. England played out a tame draw with New Zealand in the cricket largely thanks to three wet days spoiling the flow.
- The Music Festival was OK with some quite nice singing in the afternoon of Saturday. A girl from Sunderland whose voice I particularly admire reappeared after not entering last year, and finished 2nd in a couple of classes. She won the aria class in the evening but I didn't hear that because I was on coffees and teas in the kitchen. It was freezing in school and we couldn't put the heating on in the hall because it is so noisy.
- I must find the advert for Drench water. It features Brains from Thunderbirds disco dancing. Very amusing.
- SATS week before last were OK though the Shakespeare was a bit naughty in the wording of the question: would confuse the less able. The Year 11 left on Friday as their exams start this week. I got two pressies and two cards. None of the boys bar one said goodbye or anything.
- Half term next week. Debra is going to Rome lucky devil while I am going to Seahouses to be quiz ringer again. He he. I sent off this month's quiz with doubts over one picture which might be of Margaret Drabble but could be her sister AS Byatt. Serious money is riding on it too. Well, a share of £1000 anyway.
