Today was Reeth show which went ahead despite the movement restrictions on sheep and cattle cancelling those events (Foot and Mouth outbreak in the south of the country). Plenty of horses to see and the Young Farmers obstacle race. But the centre piece of the show was the Fell Race. 38 men and women ran up and down the fell overlooking the showground. A fell is a very steep and rough hill forming part of the moors. The winner completed the course in less than 15 minutes, a new record, fighting off a challenger in the last 100 yards. and won £100. The Horticultural tent had various local people's entries in prize flower, vegetable and baking competitions. We were in there ages. Hog roast with stuffing and apple sandwich for lunch and lager in the sunshine. Lovely day. Got home to find the Quiz had arrived and I got 150 right again! I've moved up to the heady heights of League B *feels dizzy*
Yesterday the gasman came... and left without me seeing or hearing him. I made a loud and aggressive phone call to the company before I spotted the card stuck in the letterbox, but I still feel aggrieved because I waited in for 11 and1/2 hours.
