Yes, perhaps it looks less than it really is

So, the man over the road is clearing his drive. I can't imagine why. There must have been a snow plough out because there is now a single track available on the road - if you can reach it.  Oh, he's move his car so he can get at a different car in the garage. They are strange people, obsessed with vehicles. They own 4 I think and he got rid of his caravette that I don't think they ever used for a holiday.

Here's 7.40 this morning. Dawn in Consett.

Dawn

And how it looked when it got light.

New Years Day

My car is the one facing and covered in snow on the left.

It is, of course, still snowing.

I have made the stuffing for my chicken and cleaned the roasting pan, so it'll be chocks away shortly to make a slightly less grand than normal New Year's Day feast. Never mind; at least I have electricity and heat and some chocolate birthday cake left.

So, the transfer window is open. At this point we may be selling Kenwyne Jones and buying Alan Hutton. We definitely need to strengthen the defence, but if we sell Jones and Bent gets injured, we are going to be very light up front. Fraizer Campbell is unproven at this level and we will need plenty of bottle if the season is not going to fall away in its usual fashion after Christmas.

WOW that loads!! Your car is practically buried!!

Apparently we are spending money in the transfer window, gleaned from all the muppets taking up the 'price frozen for 5 years' season tickets offer.

I wait to be convinced!

Shortly aftewr this, another man who has a huge VW took 10 minutes to reach the road from my car. Of course he was probably in first gear and over revving the engine resulting in mucho wheel spinning*. Three small boys tried to push him as he got nearer to the road and he was eventually got away by two passing blokes with sledges.

*He has obviously never driven in snow. There are two ways to drive in snow like this:
1. second gear and low revs
2 stay in the house.
I have opted for number 2.

This old thing? It's been there a while now.

Birthday very quiet, weather issues, but enjoyed the fact I am now old enough to know better.
