Long time no see

What's going on? I have been busy busy busy to such an extent I have lost all track of days. Anyhoo, here's the latest or the recent or even the far distance of last week.

has been beyond surreal. You know how you think 1984 could never happen? Think again. I am Winston Smith though I would take the rats as a treat. Go here, try to have a break while in the corridor, use that door; you will stay at work until 7.30, yes we have 5 members on the management team but no none of them is available when students are telling you to piss off, yes you must produce target grades for every child in the school before Monday because the only person in admin capable of producing the OMRs is so overworked she has developed carpal tunnel syndrome and is off work. I am just grateful I have decent classes or I would be on my knees and we haven't been back a month yet. Aaaargh!!!

Peter has surpassed himself in stupidity over the last two weeks. Last week I not only threw the pen down ( a regular occurrence on my part) but I also (capslock of doom) SHUT THE BOOK.
Picture the scene: our double points round of choice is TV crime; the question concerns one of my favourite series of teenage years The Streets of San Francisco 'cos like Michael Douglas love; I'm 15 remember. Who played Mike Stone? 'Karl Malden' I say with confidence and then proceed to tell the rest of the team all my boring trivia knowledge of plot and circumstances of Michael Douglas leaving. Peter reads out the answers - Michael Douglas he says. NO NO NO NO! Down goes the pen, toys out of the pram, poor Louise has to write all the questions down in my book for the rest of the night while I sulk. This in retrospect turns out to be quite funny 'cos as a scientist spelling is not her strong suit. We won anyway.
I look at imdb when I get home, print out the truth as proof for Peter and fire texts to concerned parties and sit back vindicated to enjoy a sandwich and bag of crisps. Half my tooth breaks off, Decide it's God's way of telling me not to be so clever, I have an appointment at the dentist on Monday anyway so soldier on bravely. More of that later.
This week I offer Peter the proof as a gesture of friendly help, tou know, in case you ask this question again here's the right answer. What does he focus on? That Douglas left to produce One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest. Sigh.
This week's farrago involved one of his three part questions with a linking word.
a) Name the TV series featuring an 11th century monk based on Ellis Peters' novels. Cadfael we say, but bearing in mind there aren't many other answers that could have Cadfael as the linking word we decide Peter thinks the title is Brother Cadfael.
b) A C4 series which has been won by Anthony somebody - Big Brother we chorus, congratulating ourselves for spotting Peter's logic.
c) An epic Western starring Gregory Peck and Burl Ives - Ah ha Big country..... But..... there's no link to all 3 answers and one of them's wrong anyway. I laughed and laughed. Needless to say we had already lost the will to live having cocked up the September history round - 6 points behind after two rounds  and only 3 teams playing. We were well last.

What happened at the dentist will have to wait until tomorrow. Also - my first Bones squee.
